Popcorn Bear

A newly acquired cd-rom from Crafters Companion - Popcorn Bear. It is a lovely cd and I have not stopped making cards as it is a delight to work with. My customers agreed too as I sold quite a few of them yesterday in Exeter.

My next door neighbour keeps me busy card making and over the weekend she asked me for a card for a 6 year old's birthday and this is what I came up with. A sheet of Red Hot Bed toppers and a matching backing card. I use a lot of their products as they are such good quality.

Dawn Bibby Residential Craft Weekend 12-14 June 2009

Had a fabulous weekend, flew from Exeter very early on Friday morning and met two ladies from Torquay on the train who had been on the same plane as me, so we stuck together most of the weekend. Arrived at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Lancashire near Oswaldtwistle late morning and checked in. Had a lazy afternoon chatting to my new friends and had a light supper in the bar before meeting Dawn and her team for drinks and canapes at 8pm.

Saturday morning had a full English breakfast and started crafting at 9.30am, made lots of card projects using some gorgeous new papers and some just new cupcake designs just launched by Dawn this week. After a cooked lunch returned to class to continue with the crafting until tea-time. Started a beautiful chipboard and acetate book using K & Co Madelaine papers in a design I would describe as old fashioned pink tea roses with french touches of the Eiffel Tower. Very pretty indeed. We did not have time to finish all the projects so will have to pick them up again in the morning.

Saturday evening was a dinner and quiz evening. I was one of the winners of the crafting themed quiz along with my two new friends (Barbara & Carole) from Torquay so we all shared the prize which was 150 sheets of K&Co 12"x12" papers which are divine.

Sunday morning was a coach trip to Dawn's shop about 2 miles away, spent an absolute fortune but the place is an Aladdin's cave, if you are ever in the area well worth a trip.

Back to the hotel for a carvery lunch and then the afternoon was very busy, about 10 tables each with a different tutor and you did a make and take at each place, showcasing a different technique, stamping, alcohol inks, new products from Kanban and Fiskars, Dawn with her infamous melting pot, Leonie using all sorts of inking techniques. Paula Pascual demonstrating the Cuttlebug. So much to see in one afternoon.

Had a really great time, stayed over to Monday and then made the return journey home to Exeter arriving home by 8pm.

Exhausted after all that crafting and chatting but really looking forward to the next one in November if I am lucky enough to secure a place
Sent off a handmade 'Thank You' card to Dawn and her team who worked so hard to make this couple of days such fun and such a great source of learning too.

Cattitude

These two cards were made today using a new set of papers purchased in Dawn Bibby's shop in Lancashire at the weekend. As I love cats I could not resist them. The design set is called Cattitude, and includes backing papers and co-ordinating stickers. Just love em'
